Miss Patisserie was founded in 2009 by Charlotte Ridgwell whose great love for beauty, wellbeing, design and art inspired her to create unique luxury products for bath, body, face and home. Charlotte’s interest in creating products came by chance after purchasing a ‘Make it Yourself’ bath bomb kit. ‘At the time I was working as an aromatherapist and unfortunately I broke my leg which forced me to take time off work for 6 weeks’.
Charlotte wanted to take this time to be creative and do something productive. ‘I really enjoyed making bath bombs in different shapes, colours, scents and sizes. I had family members and friends suggest that I sell the products at craft fayres, so I took the leap, quit my full-time job and Miss Patisserie was born!'
After selling her ‘Cupcake’ bath bombs at a number of local fayres, Charlotte approached local gift shops and pharmacies to see if they wanted to stock Miss Patisserie. The response was extremely positive and trade accounts were placing regular orders. ‘I wanted to take the product nationwide so I paid for a small stand at the Home & Gift trade show in Harrogate (Yorkshire, England). I opened 75 accounts at that show and since then the company has gone from strength to strength’.
My inspiration for the styling of the brand comes from places and things I adore. Paris is such an inspirational city for me, I love the architecture, patisseries, the chicness of the place. It is also where my husband Jorge proposed to me.
As a trained aromatherapist I understand how important good quality ingredients are and also the enormity of benefits natural ingredients can have on healthy skin, body and mind. Today the consumer is a lot more aware of what goes into their skin and beauty products which is a fantastic thing and I enjoy formulating new products with natural ingredients and huge benefits with them in mind.
